PROJECT LIFE WEEK 18

Another busy week.  Highlights were Jack coming home for the weekend and the Gundy Show.

This is Freddie waiting for Brett to come home.  He had promised to take the training wheels of Fred's bike and told him to be ready.  And ready he was!

And this is just a usual snapshot of Polly.  Helmet, rainboots and standing on the table.

Sir Crapalot, the duck, is a cranky thing.  He is super protective of the two chooks.  Freddie is brave enough to pick him up.

Jack was pretty happy to fit in two ski sessions at the Waterpark on the weekend.

AN ABSOLUTELY, REALLY, VERY BIG BOY ...

On Friday, our Freddie willingly gave his dummies to the Dummy Fiary ...

 
we have been talking about the Dummy Fiary for some time now ... if you give your dummies to the Dummy Fiary then she will leave you a special present and she takes your dummies away to give to some babies ... he wasn't keen UNTIL Friday ...

 
We popped both dummies on the front steps and he waited ... and waited and waited ... he then got tired of waiting, so gathered up the dummies and put them back in his bed ... we shamed him to putting them back out again ...

 
after a very long wait (we had to wait for Brett to arrive home from town with a particularly good surprise from the Fiary) Freddie found his dummies gone and a big box of Duplo on the steps ...

 
total excitement until bedtime ... fortunately, he eventually went to sleep without his dummies ... and now almost a week later, dummies are a thing of the past!!!  Well done little man.

In other news, Evie and her purple netball team made the grand finals and won ...

 
 
a very happy way to finish the season ... AND she was voted MOST IMPROVED player of her team .... 2 trophies in one day made for an extremely happy girl.

Initially, this layout was going to be about Jack's first day of Year 6, but I didn't have any photos .... I have been meaning to create a page about his love of reading so I took some photos of some of his favourite books and it worked perfectly ... I really love the October Afternoon chalkboard paper and also the Pink Paislee Members Only die cut paper ... a new favourite!

 

 
 
 
Fun bright colours and the banner stickers were the perfect fit for the school swimming carnival photos ... I really love the Pink Paislee yellow lettering, it really packs a punch.

 

 
 
 
I immediately loved the SEI monster paper and there were the perfect number of monsters to match up with the five cousins ... a scallop border for something different.

 

 
 
February in Review is coming, just need to add a couple more photos.

DAYS 18 & 19 ....

Happy 10th Birthday Evie .... yesterday Evie celebrated her birthday with an Hawaiian party at the Town Pool ... it was super fun for Evie and her 20 friends ...

 
The party invitations were a lei with a large flower hot glued on with the party details ....

 
 
 
jelly cups, fruit kebabs, lollies, chips and crackers and dip were on the party menu ...

we kept the guests entertained with musical towels, limbo, dress up relays and swimming games ...

 
finished off with the cake .... let me tell you, Donna Hay was NOT my friend on Friday when I was trying to make this cake ... the pool was supposed to be filled with blue jelly ... unfortunately, the plumbing in my pool was s#*^ful and the fridge filled with blue jelly with only a couple of puddles left in the pool ... after a glass or two of wine, I had the brilliant idea to fill the pool with blue icing ... didn't make for good eating but it looked OK and the Birthday Girl was happy.

Didn't get a chance to take a photo of the party bags ... Evie decorated noodle boxes .... added each name with stickers and then hot glued flowers all over each box ... they looked sweet.

Last night, Evie enjoyed a birthday ice cream and made her 10th birthday wish ...

 

we watched a DVD and a tired but happy Birthday Girl went to bed.

One little person in our family is busy studying the Myer Toy Catalogue ...

 
 
 
this is his current favourite book and it even goes to bed with him.

DAYS 16 & 17 .....

 Things are getting crazy busy around here .... tomorrow Evie turns 10 so we are knee deep in party preparations ... she is having an Hawaiian party at the town pool tomorrow morning ... after that, I can refocus on Christmas .... I did manage to make some delicious rocky road (I know it's delicious because I did some taste testing) ....

 
5 ingredients ... Turkish Delight, milk chocolate, marshmellows, macadamias and coconut ...

 
I like to cut up the Turkish Delight and layer it on the bottom of the tray ...

 
melt the chocolate ...

 
roast the macadamia nuts ...

 
mix the nuts, coconut and cut up marshmellows in a bowl ...

 
Pour over the chocolate and gently mix ...

 
spread in tray, over the Turkish Delight pieces and pop in the fridge to set ...

 
cut into bars, wrap and it's ready to gift to someone special.

As part of Evie's birthday present, she had her ears pierced today ...

some moral support from little brother ...

 
When Evie was finished ... Freddie said, "Freddie's ears, my turn!"  Evie was very brave and didn't even flinch ... just got to keep infections away now!

DAYS 14 & 15 ...

We have settled into STAYCATION mode ... up earlish for swimming training ... town jobs ... home by 11ish and then the remainder of the day spent at home ... the big kids are still doing their Advent jobs happily and the little kid is still enjoying the Advent treats ...  I think that I have almost finished my Christmas shopping, perhaps a couple of small things for stockings ...

DAYS 11, 12 & 13 ...

Once again we got rained out on Friday so the headers stopped work ... we decided to take ourselves off to Toowoomba to get away from it all.  One of the prompts in FINDING THE HOLIDAY JOY is Shopping ... Kelly had a fabulous example photo taken in a busy Christmas aisle of a supermarket ... loved the idea but gee whiz, a difficult photo to take ... I took my little point and shoot shopping with me on Saturday, but I felt like a total  D O R K ...

DAY 10 ....

Firstly, yippee for us, we have survived the first week of holidays! And you might be interested to know that the Bickering Jars are working quite well ... less bickering, not really BUT they are thinking about their reactions more which is wonderful ... they particularly like the "earning back" concept and it's a great way to get more jobs done!!!!

easy peasy to make and I think that they are going to look super cute on our gifts this year ... not quite ready to wrap, still shopping.

DAY 9 ...

Thought I might share my Christmas cards today, would love to send you all one snail mail, but it's not going to happen, this is the best I can do .... 

 
nice and simple this year ... the photo of the kids jumping says JUMPING WITH JOY THIS CHRISTMAS and the photo with the troopy (which Fred call's Jack's toopy) says CHRISTMAS WISHES SPECIAL DELIVERY ...

 
now I just need to write a special message on all of them ... add that job to the very long JOB LIST!

Fred had a pretty serious haircut yesterday ...

 
 
 
we don't do things by halves in our family ... Jack thinks he looks like a criminal and Evie thinks he looks like an elf ... personally, I think he looks pretty darn cute ... all the big kids were fussing over him at the pool this afternoon and he points to his hair and said, "Haircut!"  Didn't have the heart to tell him that I think they probably had noticed that already!
